My name is Jessica and I am a self- taught photographer born in Havana, Cuba and currently based in Miami, Florida. My formal education took place at Florida International University where I received a B.S. in Biology and Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Psychology. I first picked up a camera to simply document a research project, but it quickly flourished into a new form of self expression and a passion for capturing human emotion. Behind the lens I am liberated to depict the world as I see it and in turn share a part of myself as well as the people who I photograph.
One of the reasons why I created this website and decided to pursue photography is to raise awareness and money for environmental issues, humanitarian crises, education, civil rights, and other national and international issues. Art and expression are crucial in creating connections between people and creating change in our societies, so it felt only natural to use my camera as a way to somehow connect with and make a difference in the world around me. For this reason, 20% of all profits from photo shoots, video shoots, prints, and t- shirts will be donated to an organization working toward one of the issues mentioned above. For further details about these donations, please use one of the icons located at the top left corner of this site or the contact information at the bottom of this page and I would be happy to answer any questions.
